A sublime classical music experience

Poreč is the venue of one of the oldest classical music festivals in Croatia – Concerts in the Euphrasian Basilica. Organized by the Public Open University Poreč, the Euphrasian Basilica hosts outstanding classical performers every Friday throughout the summer in its enchanting and acoustically suitable setting. It is precisely this intertwining of musical and architectural art that is worthy of the rich tradition of this festival, which has proudly continued since 1962.

Since 1997, the Euphrasian Basilica has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and with its unique architecture and rich history, together with the sound of classical music, it forms an exceptional place that celebrates art and culture. For more than 60 years, the altar of the Euphrasian Basilica has offered a stage to world-renowned classical musicians with distinguished musical careers. Over the years, numerous eminent musicians and chamber ensembles with sacred music programmes have found their happy place in this consecrated space. Performing at Concerts in the Euphrasian Basilica is a special honour and mark of prestige, both for the performers and for the festival itself.

The Concerts programme always seeks to include different types of ensembles and interpretations. In this way, it aims to provide a fitting presentation of the range of possibilities for performing timeless classical chamber music in a protected cultural monument and a landmark of the city. Classical music and the Euphrasian Basilica are two elements that transcend time, and together they give the city of Poreč priceless value. Alongside distinguished international musicians, a special place in the Concerts in the Euphrasian Basilica is reserved for young talents who, thanks to their work and success, are rewarded with a performance at this renowned festival. Thus, it has already become a tradition for participants of the Summer Guitar School and that year’s winners of Poreč Fest, the international guitar and violin competition, to perform at the Concerts. Particular attention is also given to cooperation with the Poreč Art School and to involving younger audiences in following the programme.

Concerts in the Euphrasian Basilica invite you to experience a sublime journey on the melodious waves of the golden Euphrasian Basilica!
