School Start: Ready for Success!
The Poreč Open University is organizing a program designed to help children develop the skills they need to succeed at school and navigate their everyday school life with greater confidence. The program will help them become better organized, understand new material more easily, and apply their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
What will we do?
Fun activities: Through interactive games and exercises, children will learn how to approach school subjects in an engaging and enjoyable way.
Creative thinking: We will develop creativity and imagination, helping children solve problems more easily and confidently.
Organizational skills: We will learn how to achieve more in less time.
Practical tips: Children will receive useful tips and strategies that they can immediately apply to their schoolwork.
The program will take place in August 2027 in the classrooms of the Poreč Open University.
The program fee is €50.
The number of participants is limited. Applications will be accepted exclusively via the online registration form.
Who is the program for?
Group A: Preschool children
To help them begin their new school adventure with confidence and a sense of security.
Time: 4:00–4:45 p.m.
Group B: Children in Grades 2–4
To help them learn how to concentrate, stay organized, and solve problems with greater ease.
Time: 5:00–6:00 p.m.
Group C: Children in Grades 5–8
To help them effectively organize their time and school responsibilities, making everyday school tasks easier to manage.
Time: 6:15–7:15 p.m.

“Back to School: Ready for Success!” Program Held
From 17 to 21 August 2026, the “Back to School: Ready for Success!” program was held for preschool children and primary school students. The program was designed to introduce children to school responsibilities in an engaging, creative, and age-appropriate way, while equipping them with useful skills for a successful start to the new school year.
Through a variety of interactive games, creative workshops, practical tasks, and exercises, participants developed concentration, independence, creative and critical thinking, as well as organizational skills. Particular attention was given to learning and memory techniques, time management, and planning school responsibilities.
The program was organized into three age groups. The youngest participants, preschool children, focused on developing self-confidence and a sense of security before starting school through play and a variety of activities. Students in Grades 2–4 worked on concentration, organization, and creative problem-solving skills, while students in the upper grades learned how to organize their time and school responsibilities more effectively.
One of the program’s greatest strengths was that learning took place through play, experience, and active participation. The children had the opportunity to try out different strategies, collaborate with one another, approach challenges from new perspectives, and, at the same time, build greater confidence in their own abilities.
Over the five days of activities and shared experiences, participants acquired a range of useful tools and skills that they can apply in their everyday school life. The program thus provided an inspiring and positive introduction to the new school year, while conveying the message that learning can be interesting, creative, and rewarding.
We would like to thank all the children for their active participation, effort, and the wonderful atmosphere they created throughout the program! We wish them lots of success, new knowledge, and many happy moments in the upcoming school year!

Through engaging activities, children will learn how to organise themselves more effectively, understand new material more easily and apply what they have learned in practice.

Creative thinking: We will encourage creativity and imagination, helping children develop effective approaches to problem-solving.
Organisational skills: Children will learn how to manage their time and get more done in less time.
Practical tips: Participants will receive useful tips and tricks that they can immediately apply to their everyday schoolwork and responsibilities.
Programme fee: €50

From 18 to 22 August, Pučko otvoreno učilište Poreč hosted workshops for preschool and primary school children, led by Doris.
Through games and engaging activities, children learned how to:
approach schoolwork in an interesting and engaging way
develop their creativity and imagination
better organise their time and responsibilities
use practical tips and strategies for learning
The programme took place in a friendly and productive atmosphere, giving participants practical tools and skills they can use in their everyday schoolwork.

We have successfully completed School Start!
The Poreč Public Open University organised workshops to prepare and develop key skills for success at school. Through fun and interactive activities, our young participants learned how to think creatively, be better organised, and apply new knowledge with ease.
The programme took place from 19 to 23 August 2024, with three groups organised: for preschoolers, for children from 2nd to 4th grade, and for children from 5th to 8th grade.
School Start! was held as a five-day series of workshops where children learned, through play and tasks, how to approach school material in an engaging way. We developed creativity and imagination to make problem-solving easier and adopted techniques for achieving more in less time.
