Drama Studio Čin, čin

Drama Studio Čin, čin

Within the Public Open University Poreč, amateur theatre activities have a tradition of almost 20 years.

In 2018, the drama studio Čin, čin was founded in cooperation with the Poreč Youth Centre. The studio currently has 30 members, and the amateur actors are taught by the leaders in stage movement skills and the art of stage speech through improvisations and games in the stage space. Participants have the opportunity to learn about all stages in the creation of a theatre performance.

The studio leaders are: Vesna Stilinović, actress; David Belas, multimedia artist, actor and director; and Valter Roša, actor.

The result of the studio’s work in the 2018/2019 season was presented through the production of the performance “Ma šta?”, a multimedia performance with original music, film, elements of performance art and contemporary dance. The performance was staged four times, in April, May and December 2019 and in January 2020, when it toured at the Dr. Inat Theatre in Pula.

In 2021, the performance “Kad-tad” was produced by the Public Open University Poreč – a performance which, through comedy, questions the concept of synchronicity and the inexplicable coincidences we witness in life. Performed and co-authored by two actors from the studio, the performance was staged five times in the Poreč theatre in 2021 and was revived in 2023, when it also toured at the Istrian National Theatre – City Theatre Pula.

In the 2022/2023 theatre season, the drama studio premiered the comedy "Trg priča" on 24 May 2023, performed and authored by eleven actors. The performance addresses microhistory, which we rarely remember and which makes up our lives – a history that is not written down because it is not considered important enough and is most often passed on orally, from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation, and remembered as an anecdote or an urban legend of questionable authenticity. The narrators of this small history were mostly women, and so, in this performance too, it is the female characters who have the final say.
