Let's start the week with film!

Since 2019, the Poreč cinema hall has been offering film lovers a combination of the big screen and older film successes through the Cult Monday programme, which brings film buffs screenings of film classics by the great masters and teachers of cinema that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to see on the big screen – or at all.

The good attendance of the regular cinema programme shows the audience’s great appetite for film art. This has proved to be a good foundation for strengthening film with an additional programme, as well as reviving valuable film works in all their glory.

As part of the Cult programme, lectures and discussions are held after film screenings to bring interested viewers closer to the context and value of the film classic they have just seen, with a pre-announced moderator. So far, Zagreb film studies professor Nikica Gilić, director and film critic Elvis Lenić, and multimedia artist and director Davor Sanvincenti have shared their knowledge with the Poreč film audience.

Great works on the big screen shone once again in 2024 within the Cult February programme.

Kultni is a starting point for encounters between long-time and new lovers of audiovisual art and has already formed a small but devoted circle of followers of canonical film works. Alongside a relevant film audience that follows the programme, the aim is also to shape a kind of club of film lovers. Within the club, members would share a common affinity and interest in film art, exchange opinions, impressions and knowledge, and take part directly in analysing and proposing future screenings of film classics.
