The Poreč Heritage Museum is the oldest museum institution in Istria, founded in 1884.In the Lapidarium of the Poreč Heritage Museum, heraldic objects in the broadest sense of the word are displayed—artefacts, parts of sacred or secular architectural structures, and stone monuments that feature heraldic symbols as structural or purely decorative elements.
These objects form a unique whole within the historical department and play a key role in promoting and presenting the city’s nobility, which in various ways shaped and governed political developments and directly influenced the socio-economic growth of Poreč.
Since 1996, every Wednesday during July and August, Poreč has been enjoying top-class jazz concerts in the picturesque lapidarium of the Poreč Heritage Museum. Jazz in the Lapidarium offers a rich palette of expressions from all over the world, from chamber jazz and layered performances by Poreč, Istrian and international jazz musicians, to jazz combined with other musical genres. The programme always starts at 9 p.m., and admission to all concerts is free.
The diversity and quality of the Poreč jazz festival programme ensures a lively musical summer in the city.
