Porečdox is an international documentary film festival.
Porečdox is a favourite event of all film lovers in Poreč and Istria, held at the beginning of November. The Poreč international documentary film festival consists of screenings of films in the official and off programme, educational screenings for schools (matinees), exhibitions of documentary photography, workshops connected with education and the creation of elements of film art, talks with authors, lectures, and an evening entertainment programme with concerts and after-parties, and a special event is the closing of the festival.
Since it first took place in 2011, the festival has gained a clear identity and recognition in the Istria County and has become programmatically well-defined, with increasing media presence and growing audience numbers. It has achieved the organisers’ goal of promoting auteur and educational documentary forms, with themes ranging from socio-economic and political topics to scientific and environmental issues, with a focus on acclaimed domestic and regional filmmakers and films.
Alongside a programme for all ages, the festival also offers an educational component, thereby encouraging the development of new knowledge and skills, nurturing cultural and artistic expression, raising awareness of the importance of active participation in the local community, and using media as a way to express one’s own worlds.
Porečdox is always a great opportunity to have fun and socialise while learning a great deal, to discover other lives and perspectives, different ways of thinking, and to become aware of and better understand the world we live in.
