“The Pool in the Backyard” is a trans-morphic site-specific performance designed for parks, courtyards, playgrounds, and urban spaces. With each new location, the piece is reconfigured and adapted to its environment, using elements and materials from the original theatrical version of the performance BAZEN. Through new arrangements and placement, these materials become the basis for a new site-specific work each time.
The performance reflects on space, the city, youth, and alternative gathering places that, year after year, are being suffocated and erased. Inspired by the demolition of the Zagreb skate pool in the courtyard of the Student Centre (SC), the choreographer and artistic team create a performance as a tribute to all lost urban spaces.
