Exhibition of works by artists who, from 20 September to 27 October 2025, stayed and worked on the island of St. Nicholas as part of the “Painting Colony”, traditionally organized by the tourist company Valamar Riviera.
At the 40th Painting Colony, the participants were Shawn Stipling, who lives and works in Cambridge, Della Gooden from London, Snežana Vujević Nikolić from Belgrade, Zoe Miloš from Hreljin near Rijeka, as well as the Germans Brigitte Brand and Gerd Deeg, colleagues from the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts, who continued their careers in Italy, in the area around Treviso, where they still live today.
The artists’ backgrounds include studies at various art academies, as well as different artistic practices and activities – for instance, Della Gooden is also a curator and writer – but what unites them is the same inner necessity: to conceive painting as an open process of creation. And, it should be added, this painting speaks not only of an aesthetic gesture, but also encapsulates an experience of learning, observation, and reflection.

During the event, photo and video recordings may be made for the purpose of publication on the websites, social media channels, and printed publications of the Open University of Poreč as the organizer, as well as of third parties and/or third parties acting as organizers.
If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please inform us.
