KUP 54+

The Public Open University Poreč is a partner in the project, and the project leader is the City of Poreč-Parenzo.

The project started on 23 July 2018 and lasted until 23 March 2019.

The total value of the project is HRK 423,078.00, of which HRK 362,166.30 is financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund – Operational Programme Effective Human Resources 2014–2020. The remaining amount of HRK 63,911.70 was financed by the Ministry of Culture and Media from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia.

The project began implementation in July 2018, with the primary goal of establishing an amateur theatre for people over the age of 54 and older persons with disabilities. In the long term, the project helps to actively involve older people in the cultural life of the community, to prevent the social exclusion of older persons and to improve their quality of life.

Over several months of workshops, project participants became familiar with the entire process of creating a theatre production. Visual artists, musicians, singers and dancers were involved in the activities, because in addition to acting, the workshops also dealt with other aspects of a theatre piece: set, costumes, lighting, text and promotion.

Continuous, active work was done on the play’s script, visual identity, costumes and scenography. The premiere of the play created through the project, entitled Maneštra od kazališta, took place on 12 March 2019 at the Poreč theatre.

After the end of the project, the theatre group continues to work independently and autonomously, bringing new cultural content to other citizens.
