Poreč Public Open University is the lead partner, and the partners in the project are: the Poreč Association of Persons with Disabilities, DANTE – Adult Education Institution Rijeka, the Society for Research and Support Rijeka, and Mini karavan servis d.o.o. – Polidor Camping Park Funtana.

The project lasts 20 months. The start of the Project is 11.03.2022 and it runs until 11.10.2023.

Project description

Through the EDUKOSI.TURIZAM project, social services will be provided for 110 persons with disabilities (OSI) by improving and implementing the training programme “Training for jobs in online sales in tourism”, by delivering training for the development of socio-emotional skills, and through career guidance and counselling with the aim of integrating OSI into the labour market. To ensure high-quality and expert training, a professional development programme for teachers and mentors working with OSI is being developed and implemented. By developing a digital platform – a labour market and education hub for OSI – and through events for employers, access to the labour market in the tourism and hospitality sector is promoted.

The project addresses the problem of unemployment among OSI, partly caused by inadequate education programmes and insufficient work-related competences. They face unequal opportunities in education and employment as the most important aspects of gaining independence, financial and material security, and self-realisation. The participation of OSI in the world of work is a key factor in their social (re)integration.

Project objectives:

  1. Development and acquisition of professional knowledge by persons with disabilities needed for work in the tourism and hospitality sector through the development and implementation of a training programme and organised work-based learning with employers
By designing a training programme for OSI tailored to the needs of employers in the tourism and hospitality sector, and by implementing it, access to the labour market for OSI is promoted and opened up. Online sales are on the rise, and the occupation and training programme are competitive and aligned with contemporary trends. By researching the needs of OSI, the programme will be adapted to their needs and abilities. Implementing this competitive programme increases the employability of the target group, strengthens human potential in the sector, and improves the quality of life of the community.
  2. Improvement and enhancement of professional and andragogical knowledge of experts from the tourism and hospitality sector, that is, teachers and mentors for working with persons with disabilities
In order to ensure high-quality delivery of the training programme tailored to the target group, a professional development programme is being developed and implemented for teachers and mentors for working with persons with disabilities. With improved professional and andragogical knowledge, teaching staff are able to ensure quality acquisition of knowledge and skills in the tourism and hospitality sector, thereby increasing the employability of OSI, their integration into the labour market, and reducing unemployment.
  3. Promotion of access to the labour market in the tourism and hospitality sector for persons with disabilities
By creating a digital platform as an innovative approach to the labour market for OSI, the accessibility of the tourism and hospitality sector for OSI is promoted and increased by connecting OSI who are seeking employment, employers with job offers for OSI, and adult education institutions with training opportunities adapted to persons with disabilities. By organising workshops and a round table for employers, the employment of persons with disabilities in the tourism and hospitality sector is promoted.

THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND SPORT AND POREČ PUBLIC OPEN UNIVERSITY SIGNED A GRANT AGREEMENT FOR NON-REFUNDABLE FUNDS FROM THE EUROPEAN SOCIAL FUND

The Director of Poreč Public Open University, Snježana Radetić, on 11.03.2022 signed a grant agreement for the allocation of non-refundable ESF funds for the implementation of the project entitled: EDUKOSI.TURIZAM – training of persons with disabilities for jobs in tourism. The ceremonial signing was held in the congress hall of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, which, as the intermediary body, published last year the Call “Improving access of vulnerable groups to the labour market in the tourism and hospitality sector II”.

The aim of this Call is to respond to the social needs of persons with disabilities exclusively through the implementation of primarily practical training with employers in tourism and hospitality, in cooperation with adult education institutions and vocational and other associations and institutions working with persons with disabilities. Taking into account the demand for an increased number of employees in tourism activities and the fact that a large proportion of persons with disabilities in Croatia are at risk of poverty precisely because of insufficient participation in the labour market and the lack of new knowledge and skills, the tourism and hospitality sector provides an opportunity for quality social inclusion of persons with disabilities.

For this purpose, by signing 14 agreements, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport awarded slightly more than HRK 27 million.

“We are pleased that the project of Poreč Public Open University passed all qualitative checks and, among 54 submitted project proposals, was selected as one of 14 successful ones,” says Director Radetić.

4.4.2022. a kick-off meeting of the partners of the project EDUKOSI.TURIZAM – TRAINING OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES FOR JOBS IN TOURISM was held. The project is financed from the European Social Fund in the 2014–2020 financial period under the Call UP.02.2.2.17 Improving access of vulnerable groups to the labour market in the tourism and hospitality sector II.
The lead partner is Poreč Public Open University, and the partners are Adult Education Institution Dante, the Society for Research and Support Rijeka, the Poreč Association of Persons with Disabilities and Mini karavan servis d.o.o., Poreč.
On that occasion, the Partnership Agreement was signed and the details of the project activities were agreed.
The project objectives are:
🎯1. Development and acquisition of professional knowledge by persons with disabilities needed for work in the tourism and hospitality sector through the development and implementation of a training programme and organised work-based learning with employers
🎯🎯2. Improvement and enhancement of professional and andragogical knowledge of experts from the tourism and hospitality sector, that is, teachers and mentors for working with persons with disabilities
🎯🎯🎯 3. improving access to the labour market in the tourism and hospitality sector for persons with disabilities.
