The Zuccato Gallery has, through its many years of work, sought to offer local (and foreign) audiences insight into more recent, that is, modern and contemporary, artistic practice.
Located right at the intersection of the ancient streets Decumanus and Cardo (Decumanus 34), in the very heart of the old town on its busiest pedestrian route, the Zuccato Gallery is, along with the Istrian Assembly Hall, the most representative exhibition space in Poreč.
This 13th-century Gothic palace has preserved its façade with elements of Baroque and Gothic style, most notably the Gothic openings and windows, biforas and monoforas. The ground floor and first floor of the palace are built of stone, while the second floor is made of brick. The original interior layout has not been preserved, and during the 2004 renovation it was converted into a contemporary exhibition space.
The Zuccato Palace has three floors, with a total gallery area of 246 m². Each floor has an area of 82 m². The exhibition space is suitable for smaller retrospective exhibitions or for three separate solo exhibitions.
The Zuccato Gallery is named after the noble family that once owned the palace. One of the most notable citizens of Poreč, Giorgio Giovanni Zuccato, was born in this very building.
