Film exhibition in Poreč has existed for more than a century. The theatre hall also serves as a cinema, and film screenings have been held there since 1910, when electricity was introduced into the theatre building.

After the Second World War, the city’s cultural offer was provided by Cinema Zagreb, whose activities expanded into cultural and educational programming. In 1960, the cultural institution Narodno sveučilište (People’s University) was officially registered, and under its later name—Poreč Public Open University—it continues to operate here today. Film programming and screenings have remained a constant part of its activities.

Today, the auditorium has 227 seats. In addition to theatre and cinema programmes, the space is available for a wide range of programme needs of local associations, public institutions, and other interested stakeholders.
